Summary: Trust is a fundamental condition for the work of physicians. Also defending professional autonomy against market forces in health care and control of doctors needs trust and support of the public. This contribution asks to what extend trust has been lost in recent time. With the exemplarily detailed approach of „abstain from „health for cash“ a proposal is presented to regain trust in the future.
