Interaction between coumarins and antithyroid drugs – a case report

Summary: To describe a case of hyperthyroidism treated with carbimazole; and to observe the influence of antithyroid drugs on phenprocoumon anticoagulation. Hyperthyroidism may intensify anticoagulation whilst antithyroid drugs may attenuate the effect of coumarins. This interaction is unknown till now in german medical textbooks and pharmacological databases.
