Abstract: History of Medicine of the last 30 years is shown as one of industrialisation and particularisation of those acting within the system resulting into proletarianisation and de-professionalisation. The profession itself was involved in this process. Models in the process have been: Cheating, doctor as merchant, doctor as a proletarian. Reflective practitioners are another answer to this social development, trying to beware professional ideals but accepting the social position of an employee. A strategic orientations for the profession and the reflective practitioners in this social process is given.
