Keywords: DEGAM position paper on the future family practitioner evaluation primary care healthcare

Summary: Twelve family practitioners discussed the “Paper on the Future of the German College of General Practitioners and Family Physicians (DEGAM)” against the background of their day-to-day practice. The position paper was considered to be very helpful to strengthen the standing of family medicine in health care and the professional identity of family doctors. Yet it seemed necessary to apply several modifications to the text and specify certain aspects. The presented ideas hopefully trigger a constructive discussion to achieve the highest possible relevance and a broad acceptance for German family medicine´s future options.
