Hemospermia in Young Men

german translation / full article

Simon Kostner

Question

A young 25 year old man reported a single episode of hemospermia without any other symptoms. Should this be followed by further diagnostic evaluations?

Answer

No. Besides a targeted history and physical examination (including inspection and palpation of genitals and digital rectal examination of the prostate) there is no necessity for further diagnostic tests or treatments, except to assure the patient on the harmlessness of the condition.
