Is there reliable study evidence on the usefulness of hormone level determination in symptom-free postmenopausal women?AnswerThere are no results for studies in which the effects of determining hormone levels in symptom-free postmenopausal women were investigated. The potential harm of hormone therapy due to an increased risk of cardiovascular events, cancer, biliary tract diseases, urinary incontinence, venous thromboembolism and cognitive impairment is estimated to be higher than the potential benefit. Therefore, no recommendation can be given for a routine hormone level determination in symptom-free women in the postmenopause.
